Morni is a tourist place in Morni Hills in Panchkula district of Haryana in India. Morni Hills are the offshoots of Shivalik range of the Himalayas, which run in two parallel ranges. The village of Morni (Bhoj Jabial) lies on the mountainside, at 1220 meters above mean sea level. Traditions assign the name of Morni to a Queen who is believed to have ruled this area. Among the spurs of hills, lie two lakes, the larger is about 550 meters long and 460 meters broad and the other about 365 meters either way. A hill divides the two lakes but there is some Hidden channel, as the level of two lakes remains the same. The people look upon the lakes as sacred. There is an old fort, which is now in ruins. The hills are covered by pine trees. The climate is salubrious and the area is suitable for trekking. The Haryana Government has developed this hill resort and provides facilities to tourists, a motorable road was constructed to connect the Morni hills with Haryana State Highway near Panchkula. A Forest Department rest house “Lal Munia” and a PWD rest house were also constructed to accommodate tourists and trackers. There are also small playgrounds for children. There is a roller skating rink and a swimming pool. Morni Hills – 
The one and only hill station in Haryana and only 45 km away from Chandigarh. It is situated at 3600 feet above the sea level. It’s a very small hill station as it is like a small village. Morni is a place;which is famous for adventure sports.

It is a much-loved place for its rich population of bird and wild animals.

Best Time to visit --
The best time for visit is September to March.

How to Reach -
Well, your own vehicle or taxi on rent would be a better option to go there; as Govt. buses are easily available from Panchkula only.
But if you are going by your own vehicle then please get the tank full of oil, as Petrol pump is not available anywhere on the way.

Where to stay -
Only two resorts are available there for stay.

Morni Resort -
This resort is very expensive with the tariff of 2200/- to 2800/- per day. Though the services are quite good but somehow they are overcharged.

Mountain Quill Resort: This is a quite nice hotel and its tariff is comparatively low with 900/- to 1800/- per day.

But I would suggest not to stay there as only one day is sufficient to visit this place and you can easily come back to Chandigarh on the same day.

Where to go -
As I said it’s a very-very small hill station, so please don’t expect any Mall Road and Market for shopping here.
Only two places are there you can visit:

An Amusement Park -
A fun park is there where you can enjoy. It’s a kind of Adventure Park. Different types of figures are there and one horror cave which seems quite scary. All over it’s a good garden to spend some time.

Tikkar Taal -
There are two taals, which are seprated by a hill rock, and these are called “ Bada Taal” and “Chota Taal ” .

The main attraction of Morni hill is Tikkar taal. A lake surrounded by hills; it’s very Beautiful. You can enjoy there by going for boating and having some food (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or some fast food). In the evening, you will find it more attractive when the sun sets in the hills.

There are fun ropes for children to climb up alongside the lake which attracts the attentions of your young ones.

Or you can go to the forest and enjoy a walk enjoying the beauty of nature.


Though there are not much places to visit and it’s not a famous hill station, but it’s calm nature and scenic atmosphere is something worth a visit to spend a refreshing day. If you want to spend a peaceful evening with your near and dear ones, you should go there. Whenever you come to Chandigarh, don’t miss this place.
